As we could choose the topic for this blog, I decided to talk about my country. Algeria is the third biggest country in Africa; it is located in the north by the Mediterranean see. It is a country with a lot of historical event, like colonization, wars and terrorism. Algeria had been able to look up and became a wonderful and safe country.            The official languages are Arabic and French, and the majority of the populations are Muslim. But the country and the Algerian are very open minded and everyone can practice its own religions freely. Algerian is composed with a lot different type of regions, climate, environments and tradition. Therefore Algerian has very rich cultures. There is three main type of environment, the north is the see, the middle is the mountains and the south is the Sahara, which is the biggest part of Algeria. I have posted some pictures for you to see how Algeria is and to show you how in one country there are so many different places, and I hope that you will like.

Dream house

glass_house1The house of my dream would be a big one made with just glass. I love the sun, the light and a lot of space. The sun makes me happy even if I’m in a bad mood, is the only thing that help me feeling better. And the space makes me feel that I’m free. Around the house I want to have trees, a lot of trees and flowers. I want a view of this from anywhere of the house, that is why I want it in glass. In the middle of the house I want a big couch with a lot of pillows and listening all day long to jazz music, just music I don’t want the television in my house I don’t need it. I want to spend my time sleeping and watching the beautiful view from any side of my couch. But I will need my friends and family with me, to be happy I need the people that I love with me. That would be a dream place for me, but in the same time I also like big cities and big building like in New York, with a lot of people and traffic everywhere. I like this kind of busy and stressful life. The best thing for me at this period of my life would be to be in my house during the week end and be in my 67th floor office for the rest of the week. It’s good to dream! 🙂

Shitty first drafts

This text is amazing; I thought that I was the only one to have hard time writing an essay. Anne Lammott, feel what we all feel when we begin writing an essay. In this extract, she is telling us, how writers start writing drafts. I can see that even professional writer start writing with “Shitty drafts” before finding the right one. To find the right idea and the exact topic that you want to write about, you need to start writing something even if it’s something different from your thought, because it will help you to begin and in the same time organize your drafts. Because sometimes you write a very long paragraph, but too long then it’s boring and even has no sense. In my opinion, to write something interesting, and attracting that stimulates the readers and motivate them to read the rest of my paper, you need to write something that interest you and you like, so you really enjoy!

Song

Raphael Saadiq, is one of my favorite singer. He is jazzy Neo Soul singer, not a commercial bling bling singer who sings for money and shows it proudly! No, Raphael Saadiq is a real singer with his own and original underground style. His songs, make me feel in a good mood and energetic.  I love all his songs, but I this time I’m listening a lot to his new one, which is “Love that girl”. I love the way he talks about that girl 😉

Movie

The movie that I choose is the best that I watched this year; it’s “Slumdog Millionaire”. It’s the story of an eighteen year-old orphan named Jamal Malik. The police suspected him cheating in the game “Who wants to be a millionaire” in Mumbai in India. Because he is poor, he never went to school, and his job is to serve tea in a call center. The police men tortured him because he wanted to know how he cheated, but Jamal Malik didn’t cheat. Then he explains to the police how he knew the answer of each question. Each answer referred to a part of his life or an experience that he had. The movie goes back and forth in the past from his childhood, and the present when he was with the policemen and in the show. This movie is not a bollywood movie with a lot of music, dance and a love story; this movie shows how poor countries are corrupted by the government, the police and the rich people who have a lot of power.

My english class.

Before taking this class I apprehended, I was scared that the level was going to be so high, that the teacher will be so strict and that I would not be able to have good grades because even the Americans students had trouble with this class, but I had to take this class for my associate degree, so I took it and hoping that I will do good. In fact this class is hard, but interesting and fun. Courtney Edwards, our teacher, help me to understand the assignments and to do my essays, and she also secured me and encouraged me a lot. Then I was more confident and improved my speaking and writing. Also, my group mates helped me during the class and for the homework, and we always study together in class. I really want to thanks them for making this class fun and thank you for always answering me when I ask you the meaning of a word I’ m sorry for bothering you all the time with that ;-). I’m glad that I took this class and I’m happy to have met new people.
